Ein Streik legt die Bierbrauereien im wilden Westen lahm und die Saloons sitzen auf dem Trockenen. Die Bewohner Neumünchens sind so verzweifelt, dass sie Lucky Luke um Hilfe bitten.
Der Cowboy folgt dem versiegenden Bierfluss bis nach Milwaukee, wo die Brauereibesitzer einen Coup planen: Um die Produktion wieder anzukurbeln, sollen Sträflinge zur Zwangsarbeit herangeschafft werden. Und vier alte Bekannte von Lucky Luke melden sich sofort freiwillig.
