Während Stern seine Arbeit als Totengräber in New Orleans wiederaufnimmt, gerät er unschuldig in den Verdacht, einen Banküberfall verübt zu haben.
Gemeinsam mit italienischen Einwanderern wird er in den Knast geworfen und dort an den jungen Ganoven Guido gefesselt. Dadurch gelingt Stern gegen seinen Willen die Flucht aus dem Kittchen, und eine turbulente Verfolgungsjagd durch die ganze Stadt entbrennt.
Ein explosiver Cocktail, denn die Polizei mag korrupt und rassistisch sein, aber die Mafia besteht auch nicht aus Unschuldslämmern!
